THE WORD OF THE WEEK

TITLE: “GOD Saves” 3/2/2020

“Ho, everyone that is thirsty, come to the waters, and he that has no money; come buy and eat; come buy wine and milk without money and without price. Why do you spend for that which is not bread? And labor for that which does not satisfies? Hear diligently unto me, and eat that which is good, and let your soul delight in fatness. Incline your ear and hear and you shall live; I will make an everlasting covenant with you…Behold I have given David as a witness to the people, a leader and commander…Behold a nation shall run unto thee David because of the Lord thy God: for he has glorified thee. Seek you the Lord while he may be found, call upon Him while He is near: Let the wicked forget his way and return unto the Lord and He will have mercy unto him and to our God, for He will abundantly pardon. For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, says the Lord.

For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts.

For as the rain cometh down, and the snow from the heaven, and returns not, but gives water to the earth and makes it bring forth and bud, that it may give seed to the sower, and bread to the eater. So shall MY WORD be that goes out of my mouth: it SHALL NOT RETURN UNTO ME VOID but it shall accomplish that which please me and it shall prosper in the thing where I sent it.

For it shall go out with joy, and be led with peace: the mountains and hills shall break before you in singing, and all the trees shall clap their hands. Instead of thorn coming in the fir tree, and instead of brier coming in the myrtle tree: IT Shall be to the LORD for a name, for an everlasting sign that shall not be cut off, says the LORD.” Isaiah 55

Here in lies the entire Chapter of 55 which invites all people, not just the Jews to an abundance of Blessings. Anyone who is thirsting for that which really satisfies is welcome to come. Isaiah the prophet pictures God blessings in terms of a great feast, where God is the host. He speaks of wine, milk and bread which were their typical nourishing foods that they had been without since captivity by the Babylons had been going on for 70 years. God was telling the people He wanted to save them. He was sending a everlasting Savior, Jesus Christ who would establish an everlasting covenant. Our responsibility is to be wholly devoted to Him and share this invitation the “GOD SAVES” with others. Turn to God, The Father, with Repentance and to Jesus, The Son, with Faith, without delay!

“Eyes have not seen, Ears have not heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, things which God has prepared for them who love Him.” 1 Cor 2:9
