LIVING IN VICTORY

THE WORD OF THE WEEK

TITLE: “Living a Victorious Life” 02/12/2022

“So, if you are serious about living this new resurrection life with Christ, act like it. Pursue

the things over which Christ presides. Don’t shuffle along, eyes to the ground, absorbed with

the things right in front of you. Look up, and be alert to what is going on around Christ –

that’s where the action is. See things from His perspective. Your old life is dead. Your new life,

which is your real life – even though invisible to spectators – is with Christ in God. He is your

life. When Christ (your real life, remember) shows up again on this earth, you’ll show up, too

– the real you, the glorious you. Meanwhile, be content… ” . Colossians 3:1-4 Message Bible

God wants everyone to be “Living a Victorious Life”. 1 John 5:4 says, “Every God-born

person conquers the world’s ways. The conquering power that brings the world to its

knees is our faith. The person who wins out over the world’s ways is simply the one

who believes Jesus is the Son of God.” Yet, living in victory means different things to

different people. JM Troppello, Author of the Mustard Seed Sentinel which is a lifestyle

magazine on faith and health news says that living victorious doesn’t mean all prayers are

answered but rather it means you are committed to growing in the Lord. The Apostle

Paul was explaining to the newly found church of Christians at Colossae

what happens to you following public baptism. He explains they should live

a different life now; a life that seek the things that are above (refer to Christ)

and spiritual things. The devil cannot stop you now from completing your purpose

and the reason God created you. Christ should be in the center of your life. Christian have

died to their old, former life. The things that pleased us before like money, clothes and

houses, or power and honor once these things pleased us more that God. We should

desire Christ more than these, the former things. This does not mean God does not want

us to enjoy the very things he made - for he made the earth and all within (Ps 24:1). So,

how do you get to “Living a Victorious Life”? Tropello lists 7 ways to live in victory!

1).We need a strong Prayer life that exist and communes with God daily (Heb 7:23; 2). We must

know God’s Word (Read-Study-Apply-Memorize_ Recite) as we grow in The Faith (Rom

10:17). Spend time in, 3).Worship daily, weekly. 4). Be “Fruit of the Spirit”: joy, love, peace,

longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control and re-evaluate these

when there is no fruit and focus on our hearts turning to God (Gal 5:22); 5) We must Live in

Grace through salvation and not think it’s on our doing or works, Grace is a gift from God (Eph

2:8); 6) We must Seek God’s Will. When we mess up deal with consequences. 7) We need to

Focus on God’s Kingdom realizing life is short.(Matt 6:33). Implement these daily habits and

realize things like anger, profanity, foods, wrong sex, greed for food or money are our own

desires and are not that important in this short life.
