We are “Elected”

“Peter, an apostle of Jesus Christ, to strangers scattered throughout Pontus, Galatia, Cappadocia, Asia, and Bithynia, Elect according to the foreknowledge of God the Father, through sanctification of the Spirit, unto obedience and sprinkling of the blood of Jesus Christ; Grace unto you and peace, be multiplied”. 2 Peter 1:1-2

Scripture tells us we are born for God’s Glory. Ephesians 2:10 says, “For, we are his workmanship, created in Jesus Christ for good works, that God before preordained we should walk in them.” Because we are Christians, nothing about us should cause us to hold our heads nor hearts low for very long, if at all. We live in holy expectations for the possibilities in a world that is not the home. The bible tells us that we live here in this world, as scattered strangers and appear peculiar at times and other times foolish, with a confident “living hope” because we believe with a “living” God who exists in three-parts, God, the Father, God, the Son and God, the Holy Spirit.

God is “Love” and loves us so much. Jesus loves us so much for he died for us to redeem our sins and conquers the “spiritual” enemy daily. The Holy Spirit works in our hearts when God elects to change our heart toward sanctification and salvation. This miracle cannot be explain but everyday our hearts rejoice in it and praises God’s Glory for it. Hallelujah! God’s Glory is not a character trait like his wisdom, or holiness or power. It represents all He perfectly is and perfectly does. You see man’s glory is fleeting and goes away eventually but God’s Glory remains forever.

In the above scripture, the Apostle Peter writes a letter in the year of 63 AD. He wrote the letter to mostly Jews (Gal. 2) to encourage and strengthen them through a period of suffering. You see, Peter lived an exemplary life to the glory of God. But some saints faint and fall in times of trials. Its only when we depend upon the grace of God that we can glorify God in times of suffering. Grace is God’s generous favor underserving the saints in times of need.

Grace saves us, endures us, enables us, elects us!
